Industry Background

Pierre-Anthony Hubert "Slumper"

I've been playing competitive FPS since I was 14, back when a little mod of Half Life called "Counter-Strike" first released and grew very quickly within my home country, Belgium.

I worked in a lot of different industries, be it education or "big corpo", but, around 2014, I became a freelance translator with a satisfying career. However, at 30 years old, and after playing a lot of Rainbow Six: Siege and watching a lot of
Pro League, I really wanted to see the "behind the scenes" of competitive Siege.

This is when, in 2018, I successfully applied for a volunteer position as admin for CCS, which was the best experience you could hope for. I rose through the ranks over there and ended up as head of operations for the organization.

In parallel, I was lucky enough to get recommended for my work as an admin and tournament manager by a talented producer, Simon Bond, on a few events that allowed me to gravitate around a lot of people involved in R6 competitive environment, expanding from the grassroot to the professional level.

I pitched  Widepeek Media's idea to Simon as the R6 scene growth started expanding sharply around 2019-2020 and more people than ever were getting into broadcasting or operations without real support, while many of them were young freelancers, less experienced in negotiating offers, dealing with their invoicing or just representing their own interests professionally.

While Simon eventually left for a successful and unmissable position at Faceit, I took care of negotiating contracts and invoicing for a few prominent Siege staff, mostly observers, and continued working as Admin and League Operator on my own projects under the same brand until 2022.

Based on my experience as Tournament Organiser and direct collaboration with Ubisoft on several official leagues and major events, and in partnership with another experienced esports veteran,  Pauline Puybareau, we pitched the management of the then very coveted R6 French National League and succeeded at being retained for this important project, which also included a live event for an Open Cup in the biggest French videogames convention, the PGW in Paris.

After the success of this project, I decided to shift my focus and brand exclusively to Esports project management, rewarded by a successful streak of activities that continues to this day, as scope widens and  objectives are more ambitious than ever.
